Quran does say that Jews and Christians will go to Hell

I have recently come across misconceptions of misconceptions that I would like to investigate.

Misconception: You Must be “Muslim” or you will burn in Hell

(This is promulgated by and for Muslims.)

Background: Some (Muslims) think that a person must be a Muslim to enter paradise/heaven, and if not, they will go to Hell once they die.

The Quran repeatedly states the criteria for success as monotheism, recognition of accountability and being righteous:

Surely those who believe, and those who are Jews, and the Nazarenes*, and the Sabians, whoever believes in God and the Last day and does good, they shall have their reward from their Lord, and there is no fear upon them, nor shall they grieve. [2:62]

Those who believe, and those who are Jewish, and the Sabiens, and the Nazarenes*; whoever of them believes in God and the Last Day and does good works, then they will have nothing to fear nor will they grieve. [5:69]
*commonly translated as “Christians” but more likely refers to the followers of Jesus of Nazareth, hence Nazarenes.

The Quran also states that there are some of “the people of the book” (i.e. followers of previous revelations) that are righteous and will be rewarded:

And if the followers of the Book had believed and guarded (against evil) We would certainly have covered their sins and We would certainly have made them enter gardens of bliss.
And if they had observed the taurat
* and the injeel* and that which was revealed to them from their Lord, they would have enjoyed happiness from above and beneath them, there is a party of them keeping to the moderate course, and (as for) most of them, evil is that which they do.
[5:65-66]
*commonly translated as Torah and Gospels respectively.

They are not all alike; of the followers of the Book there is an upright party; they recite God’s communications in the night and they adore (Him).
They believe in God and the last day, and they enjoin what is right and forbid the wrong and they strive with one another in good deeds. These are of the righteous.
And whatever good they do, they shall not be denied it, and God knows those who are forethoughtful.

[3:113-115]

From the above, the people who have followed the presentation  have stated that they believe that Jews and Christian are also accepted in Paradise (Heaven) just as the Muslim are accepted. So I will obtain other translations of the Quran to throw more light and to clarify this perception.
According to 2:62 and 5:69 The implications of these paragraphs are that Muslims, Jews and Christians, and Sabians have the same rights to PaRADISE (HEAVEN ). But let us study other translations.
[2.62] Surely those who believe, and those who are Jews, and the Christians, and the Sabians, “whoever believes in ALLAH and the Last Day (reverts to Islam)” and does good, they shall have their reward from their Lord, and there is no fear for them, nor shall they grieve. umich.trans.

Quran, which Muslims believe to be the verbatim word of Allah, God Almighty, extends glad tidings to all good servants of Him among Jewish and the Christian communities for their devout practices. There isn’t any saying attributed to Prophet Muhammad which condemns non Muslims who wouldn’t commit the sin of worshipping others besides the One true God to Hell which is a point to be noted. Rather there are increasingly multiple references in Quran which confirm otherwise fair principles of Justice for Faith in one God. Also, the Quran far from condemning Jews and Christians to hell encourages them to upgrade their belief through this new revelation carried by Angel Gabriel. Whenever the Quran curses its sinners it also praises people among the Jews and Christians for guarding Faith, as pointed out in Quran 3.113 to 115.

Prince: solution-forpeace.com x Hght : Thank you for your contribution. Either you are a novice with the Quran or you are very selective in your choice of verses of the Quran. I find the following:

Slay the unbelievers wherever you find them(2:191)
Make war on the infidels living in your neighboorhood (9:123)
When opportunity arises, kill the infidels wherever you catch them (9:5)
Kill the Jews and the Christians if they do not convert to Islam or refuse to pay Jizya tax (9:29)
Any religion other than Islam is not acceptable (3:85)
The Jews and the Christians are perverts; fight them (9:30)
Maim and crucify the infidels if they criticise Islam. (5:33)
The infidels are unclean; do not let them into a mosque (9:28)
Punish the unbelievers with garments of fire, hooked iron rods, boiling water; melt their skin and bellies
      (22:19)
Do not hanker for peace with the infidels; behead them when you catch them (47:4)
The unbelievers are stupid; urge the Muslims to fight them (8:65)
Muslims must not take the infidels as friends (3:28)
Terrorise and behead those who believe in scriptures other than the Qur’an (8:12)
Muslims must muster all weapons to terrorise the infidels (8:60)
The Qur’an certainly proclaims that when the time is appropriate, Muslims must use force to convert the unbelievers to Islam. For the non-Muslims, the alternative to this is to pay the humiliating protection money (Jizya tax) or be killed (by beheading, of course). A militarily dominant Islam, without doubt, precludes the peaceful co-existence with the unbelievers if the Muslims have to abide strictly by the unalterable stipulations of the Qur’an.

The above certainly contradicts what you have claimed

      PRINCE:
      3:113 – 115

“They are not [all] the same; among the People of the Scripture is a community standing [in obedience], reciting the verses of Allah during periods of the night and prostrating [in prayer]. They believe in Allah and the Last Day, and they enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and hasten to good deeds. And those are among the righteous. And whatever good they do – never will it be removed from them. And Allah is Knowing of the righteous.”

There is some ambiguity here and it depends on how you read it.
The Quran praises “People of the Scriptures” who recite the verses of Allah (i.e. from the Quran) and prostrate themselves in prayer to Allah and “BELIEVE IN ALLAH AND THE LAST DAY” TO ME IT MEANS PRAISE TO THOSE PEOPLE OF SCRIPTURES WHO ACCEPT ALLAH. This is no surprise.
